Celebrating 25 Years as a vibrant part of the Tonbridge community
Top Hat - Review by Heather Applewhite
We had a wonderful day in July visiting Chichester theatre to enjoy a performance of Top Hat.
After a very smooth coach trip, we arrived earlier than expected. So we had plenty of time to look around, visit the cathedral, shop in the town, and have lunch.
My group of three visited the cathedral. Apart from the splendour of the cathedral, we also viewed the colourful windows, some beautifully embroidered cushions, and tapestries.
Our lunch was a little disappointing because the young waitress unfortunately lost control of the tray and the glasses of wine fell off, enough spilling over Margaret. Obviously, the staff were extremely apologetic, soaked up the wine on Margaret and gave us another free glass of wine. I myself, not being used to two glasses of wine in the afternoon, was certainly a little lightheaded.
After lunch, we made our way to the theatre and found our seats. What a joyous performance. Full of fun, nostalgia, brilliant dancing, and singing. The costumes were amazing. The ladies with bright colourful gowns and the gentlemen with their top hats and tails! Quite importantly (especially for me), all the actors were fitted with microphones so we could all hear.
We had a comfortable journey home.
Thank you to Julie, Glynis, Marion and Johanna, and everyone else involved in making this a memorable day. I am sure we all look forward to the next theatre outing.
