If the new Leisure Centre is built as presented in the planning application it will have major implications for Tonbridge u3a.
There are many concerns but the major issue is arround the space they propose for us to hold our monthly meetings and other occasional meetings.
The next few weeks (end of June early July) will be important in determining the future of the Angel Centre. Members who would like to understand the issues in more detail can read the documents below and, if they wish, make their views known to decision-makers.
In March, Tonbridge u3a submitted a detailed representation setting out many of the concerns raised by members regarding the proposed Angel Centre redevelopment. The submission, prepared on behalf of the Management Committee by Penny Davies, can be read here. Following publication of the planning application, an addendum was also prepared and can be read here.
In June, a further supplementary submission was made on behalf of Tonbridge u3a. This can be read here, together with a supplementary note regarding Policy CP26, which can be read here.
Members who wish to express their views are encouraged to contact Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council, their local borough councillor and our MP, Tom Tugendhat, before Tuesday 7 July 2026.
