Group Leader: Joyce Graf
Ever wondered what Shakespeare actually sounds like when ordinary people read it together — without stage fright, costumes or spotlights? That’s exactly what we do. We sit round a table, share out the parts and let the play unfold. It quickly becomes clearer than you expect and often funnier too. No acting ability needed at all. You can read a big part, a few lines, or simply listen and enjoy the story.
Many people come “just to try it” and stay because it’s such good company. We chat about what’s going on, help each other through the tricky bits, and occasionally disagree about the characters, which is half the fun. We only meet four times a year, so it’s easy to fit in and a nice way to do something a bit different without a big commitment.
Upcoming meetings (2026): Thursday 23 April, Thursday 30 April.
Why not give it a go? You’ll be very welcome.
