Review of The Score
I didn't know what to expect when I booked a ticket with the Theatre Group to see the play 'The Score' by Oliver Cotton recently. On the face of it, the dramatisation of the heated debates between Johann Sebastian Bach and King Frederick II of Prussia, on music, religion, and war, didn't suggest the play would be entertaining, but I was surprised that I enjoyed the performance so much. Although the dialogue was quite wordy and required a bit of concentration, it was clever, fast-moving, and often funny. The set and costumes were colourful, and of course, it was worth going to see Brian Cox as J.S. Bach.
